Visitors Book Entry: Naiad was a culture shock for me in the begining as
my previous ship was a carrier. However, she turned out to be the best
draft of my 24 year career, all due to the special (often
unique)characters that made up the ship's company. I have vivid memories
of STANAVFORLANT, particularly my accidental crosspol experience, to the
Canadian frigate that rescued me after I was washed off the focsle of
Naiad during a RAS.

Its been some time since I've been in touch with Chaz Hurley when he was
trying to set up a reunion. I joined the Naiad in Gib 1981 with Micky
Dwyer and Simmo, when it was in DED before it bent a turbine and ended
up in Rosyth for 3 months. Still in touch with Paul Slade MEM(L) and
Danny Keay POMEM back then, he works in the same company as me. Bumped
into Baz Puzkar LMEM(M)in Sultan a couple of years ago he was working
for Flagship training Network Rail Apprentices. Sledge Hamer LMEM(L)
also lives near, his local is the Rising Sun in Compton. 3K Stokers mess
rocked, only the sailors came close to matching us for getting in
trouble!
Like Lucky Lucking, still into bikes, not Harleys though.

Visitors Book Entry: The Naiad was second in command of the 6th frigate
squadron, I served on hms Brighton, the Naiad was anchored next to us at
spithead for the fleet review. The night before in the midnight watch
two of our officers (probably pissed) thought it would be a good wheeze
to take our Gemini across to your ship and paint your anchor cable day
glow orange, we the crew were not impressed by this because we knew how
much hard work goes into making the ship clean and tidy, shortly after
this one of these officers had the nerve to call me irresponsible for
being one minute adrift for user checks. we learned sometime after that
your qm on the night was severely reprimanded for not checking the
anchor cable, I know that you covered the cable with grey before the
royal yacht came past.
